About Gary H. Goldman, M.D.

As a former member of the Weill Cornell Medical College Admissions Committee, Dr. Goldman has unique insights into the medical school application process. He has shared these insights with students by lecturing at leading universities on medical school admissions: how to optimize coursework, extracurricular activities, the AMCAS application, and the all-important interview in order to achieve success.

After hearing his lectures, students sought out Dr. Goldman for his individualized counsel. During these informal interactions, Dr. Goldman found that many students needed quality information, emotional support and encouragement that was lacking in most career counseling services. It was through these relationships and his students’ overwhelming appreciation and success that PreMed Consulting was born.

Academic Background

Dr. Goldman graduated from the University of Rochester with a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy. He then attended medical school at Stony Brook University where he earned his M.D. with Distinction in Research and was elected to the national medical college honor society Alpha Omega Alpha.

He received his training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at New York Presbyterian Hospital – Weill Cornell Medical College as a resident from 1986 – 1990, serving as Chief Resident in his final year. Dr. Goldman has held an academic appointment at Weill Cornell Medical College and maintained admitting privileges at New York Presbyterian Hospital since that time.

Medical School Involvement

Dr. Goldman previously taught first year Cornell medical students in their Medicine and Society course for several years, serving as a mentor and teaching them how to conduct a medical interview and perform a physical exam. He continues to participate in the clinical training of third- and fourth-year medical Cornell students and Obstetrics and Gynecology residents.

Dr. Goldman has been the recipient of numerous awards, including Castle Connolly Top Doctor, New York Magazine Best Doctors, U.S. News Top Doctor, Patient’s Choice Best Doctor Award, Patient’s Choice Most Compassionate Doctor Award, and The Best Doctors in America.
